JOB PURPOSE

To meet and exceed targets for revenue, growth, and profitability of all terminals within the assigned geographic region.

 

KEY BEHAVIORAL REQUIREMENTS

   This position requires confidence, independent action, initiative, a sense of urgency, and the ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them. A well-suited candidate can react and adjust quickly to changing conditions and come up with practical ideas for dealing with them.

   The style is purposeful, directed at getting things done quickly. There is a great deal of challenge and pressure, and people and problems must be handled with confidence and determination.

   The position requires a self-disciplined person who can handle details as long as they are only an intermittent aspect of the job, and not the primary responsibility. The responsibilities are broad in scope, encompassing a wide variety of activities requiring rapid shifts in priorities.

   This is primarily a task-focused job, requiring a somewhat authoritative, directive leadership style that encourages results-driven, task-oriented collaboration. 

 

Meet monthly, quarterly and annual gross profit targets in assigned region:

   Communicating company needs to drivers as needed.

   Facilitating dialog between drivers and management.

   Responding to driver concerns with accurate and honest information in a timely manner.

   Being involved in new business as needed.

   Eliminating waste throughout the organization.

 

Meet monthly, quarterly and annual payroll to revenue ratio targets in assigned region by:

    Ensuring driver hiring processes are followed and communicated as requested.

    Facilitating dialog between drivers and dispatchers as needed.

    Working with other departments to ensure equipment and drivers are maximizing revenue generation as needed.

    Communicating metrics and performance to drivers as needed.

 

Meet monthly, quarterly and annual revenue per hour targets in assigned region by:

    Maintaining a driver schedule that meets changing company needs.

    Coaching and counseling subordinates and other employees as needed.

    Communicating the metrics and expectations to the driver teams.

    Coordinating with dispatch team regarding routing and driver capacities.

    Retraining or replacing drivers that are underperforming to targets.

 

Maintain regional aggregate driver safety score targets in assigned region by:

    Ensuring drivers are trained according to established guidelines.

    Communicating training timelines to all new drivers promptly.

    Following up with training regularly to ensure training is understood and prompt.

    Discussing any areas of concern regarding training to appropriate parties.

    Doing ride-alongs with drivers to ensure they understand company expectations.

 

Demonstrate superior leadership to team members and positively influence other teams by:

   Giving attention to high performers and acknowledging great performance.

   Coaching, counseling, and/or removing poor performers to elevate the team.

   Addressing employee concerns within the organization quickly and thoroughly.

   Modeling and expecting other employees to model our POP leadership skill sets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

   7-10 years of proven leadership experience in a competitive environment. Industry experience preferred. 

   Ability to read, speak, and write the English language. Ability to also communicate in Spanish preferred.

   Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers.

   Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

   Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

   Above average computer skills with proficiency in dispatch software and Microsoft Office products.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

   Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to, walking up and down stairs/ladders including heights over 40 feet, negotiating uneven surfaces, and carry up to 50 pounds.

   Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force to constantly move objects.

   Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, reading and visual inspection.

   The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
