JOB PURPOSE

Maintain a high level of equipment performance within areas of responsibility by repairing company equipment.

ESSENTIAL RESULTS

Ensure units in the assigned area meet revenue and efficiency goals by:

  • Promptly and accurately diagnosing equipment needs in all terminals.
  • Communicating with terminal management on needs regularly.
  • Performing comprehensive visual inspections.
  • Utilizing safe practices in the work place.
  • Maintaining a high level of detail for all tasks.

 

Meet assigned area's parts budget by:

  • Maintaining an inventory life cycle for needed parts.
  • Working with the supervisor to meet and discuss current and future needs with outside vendors.
  • Making recommendations on ways to improve efficiency and cost-savings.

 

Ensure assigned team meets efficiency standards by:

  • Verifying the maintenance team is filling out the necessary forms for equipment service.
  • Updating vehicle records timely and accurately.
  • Performing and following up on equipment preventive maintenance as scheduled.
  • Taking classes to keep up-to-date on equipment maintenance needs.

 

Ensure a safe and productive shop by:

  • Maintaining a clean and efficient working environment.
  • Promoting safe practices throughout facility.
  • Ensuring all tools and machines are accounted for.
  • Keeping building and facility clean and in working order.

 

Maintain and increase customer satisfaction by:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years in the motor carrier maintenance industry
  • Knowledge of class 8 trucks and trailers
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge
  • Must be familiar with DOT requirements for Motor Vehicle Safety compliance
  • Current CDL with HazMat and Tanker endorsements preferred
  • Must be able to speak and read English
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic supervisory skills
  • Basic geographic understanding of the areas of operations
  • Minimum computer skills are required
  • Experience with maintaining inventory and vehicle maintenance records preferred

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Physical activities include but are not limited to sitting, walking, standing, speaking in person and on the phone, typing, filing, and counting
  • Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pound of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, reading and visual inspection.
  • The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions with no effective protection from the weather and may be subject to both extreme heat and extreme cold.
