Who we need!

Flying Star needs the right candidate to be able to Lead and Manage a well-defined maintenance program that is critical for operations to function. This job adds value to the company overall by, ensuring resources are available to service our customers, retain higher resale value of equipment, and reducing overall maintenance costs.

Ensure all company equipment is working in a safe manner and is repaired within established guidelines by:

  • Maintaining a work order system for all internal repairs and service.
  • Reviewing vendor quotes and invoices for accuracy and completion.
  • Maintaining accurate terminal assignments for equipment
  • Completing preparation of all new equipment in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining a knowledge base of industry wide standards and specific equipment requirements.

 

Meet fleet operations labor to budget by:

  • Hiring and training an efficient mechanic team.
  • Communicating needs and results to mechanic team.
  • Rewarding and reprimanding associates as needed.
  • Managing resources and manpower to meet terminal-specific and company-wide goals.

 

Ensure repairs and maintenance charges meet or are below budget by:

  • Distributing reports to terminal managers and shop personnel as needed.
  • Maintaining a "need only" level of parts and supplies as defined by management.
  • Maintaining high inventory integrity with periodic audits.
  • Establishing and maintaining vendor relationships at company and local levels.
  • Establishing outside vendors as needed.

 

Maintain equipment lease charges to budget by:

  • Negotiating purchases and leases.
  • Monitoring the usage of leases effectively and efficiently.
  • Maintaining a strong relationship with equipment vendors.
  • Demonstrating strong communication/listening skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 2 years of proven leadership experience in a related field Working knowledge of the transportation industry, DOT rules and regulations, OSHA laws, and Hazardous Materials regulations Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers. High school diploma or equivalent
